James Starr, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 at his home in Okmulgee, OK at the age of 65. He was born January 24, 1956 in Okemah, OK to Eli Starr & Lena (Taylor) Starr.
He traveled many places, working with horses as a horse trainer, automotive mechanic, stone mason, worked with a Ram-jack, foundation repair. He loved to cook and was well known for his fry-bread, so much so that one of his good friends nick named him "fry-bread", James called him "Pork & Beans". He lived a good long life, and fought as much as he could and loved his family very much.
James served in the United State Army during the Vietnam Era.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Lena Starr, brother, Daniel Starr, sisters' Rose Starr, Emma Starr Factor, Sally Jackson, and Mandy Hill.
James is survived by his wife, Veronica Starr of the home,
step-son, Jacob Bruce of Tulsa,
one step grandson, Ian Irizarry of Tulsa,
sister, Allene Starr of Okmulgee,
and sister Amy Reagan & husband Jerry of Okmulgee,
as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be the members of th Eastern Oklahoma Road Riders (EORRA).
Honorary pallbearers will be Les Bruner, Doug Howard, Tom Barnett, Greg Berryhill and also all James' Nephews.
Viewing will be from 12-5 pm on Tuesday, June 29th at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM, at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Taylor, officiating. Interment will follow at Starr Family Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Muscogee Nation Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
