Iven Cecil Thomas

Iven Thomas was born on May 6, 1941 in Batesville, Arkansas to Cecil and Ina Thomas. He passed on Feb 10, 2023 in his home.

His mom, dad and younger brother, Fred, moved to Shafter, CA in 1954.

In school years he worked hard but also ran track and liked to drag race. He then followed in his father's footsteps and became a mechanic and his son Darren did as well. His hobbies were bowling and golfing and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.


In 1970 he moved to Weleetka, OK. He worked for Tommy Puckett as a mechanic. He opened his own garage in 1975 and worked until 2019.

He married Nedra Thomas in 1996. He was a member of FBC and served on many committees. In 2019 he was named citizen of the year and was grand Marshall of the Pride Day Parade. He was very honored by this.


Iven liked being around people and wanted to help who he could, He was ornery and loved to joke around.


He loved his family and friends and had a special soft spot for kids. They had to mind but they still got their peppermint candy. Mostly he loved his Lord. He wanted others to know Him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one step-daughter, Deresa Anthony.


Iven is survived by his wife, Nedra Thomas of the home, his children; Darica Roberts of Upper Lake, California, Darren Thomas and wife Carrie of Edmond, OK, Darla Thomas of Upper Lake, California, Deena Moore and husband Alan of Kernville, CA, stepchildren; Lesa Pruitt of Weleetka, Jamie Diggins and husband Chuck of Weleetka and Kristi Richison and husband Brett of Jenks, brother, Fred Thomas and wife Sandy of Shafter, CA as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be James Curry, Doug Anthony, Jerry Cooper, Chuck Simmons, Noah Baker, and Ty Cooper.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Patty Lloyd, Susan Berry, Sheryl Smart, Sandra Golden, Faye Carter, and Lisa Lee.


Viewing will be from 12-8 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Integrity Funeral Service.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Weleetka with Rev. Dewayne Davis and David Swift, officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka. Services are under the care and direction of Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
