O. McKay Obituary

O.J. “Mac” McKay passed away this Tuesday, September 10th, 2019, at the age of 97 at his home in
Henryetta, OK. He was born on March 4th, 1922 in Hatfield, AR to George Washington McKay and Bertha Deora (Latch) McKay.
O.J. grew up working hard on his parent’s farm. He married Bernice Marie Long on May 7th, 1941, in
Okmulgee, OK. They began their married life working on the Floyd Gayle Ranch east of Morris. Over the
years, he had several jobs which included working at a meat packing plant, repairing wrecked cars for
Ross Silvey Motors in Okmulgee, and selling new and used cars. After his first wife Bernice died in a car
accident in 1965, he married Margie Thompson of Henryetta on October 16, 1969 in Joplin, MO. For
many years, he operated a successful used car business that he began in Okmulgee, which he later
moved to Henryetta, until he retired from the car business at the age of 75. During his time in
Henryetta, he started breeding horses for competition, racing, and show. Anyone that knew him knows that horses were his passion in life.

He is preceded in death by a son Jimmie Ray McKay; three brothers Olen Carter McKay, Doyle Ray
McKay, and Jimmie Marcus McKay, Sr.; and first wife Bernice Marie (Long) McKay.
He is survived by wife Margie McKay of Henryetta; brother Lowell Wayne McKay of Cassville, MO; son
