Lucille VanMeter, a longtime resident of Henryetta was born January 2, 1935 in Poteau, Oklahoma to Goldie (Newton) and Ike Kellogg, Sr. She passed away July 28, 2008 at Henryetta, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years 6 months and 26 days. She was married to Rev. Kenneth VanMeter at Pharoah, Oklahoma on June 4, 1950. She graduated as a licensed practical nurse in 1973 and practiced nursing until 1993. Before going to nursing school she worked as a nurses aid for many years. Lucille was instrumental in helping her husband Rev. Kenneth VanMeter pastor the Evangelistic Center Church in Henryetta for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ike & Goldie Newton, 3 brothers, Seth, Issac, & Truman Kellogg, & 1 sister Mildred Smith.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Rev. Kenneth VanMeter, of the home;
2 children, Elaine Foster & husband Sonny, Henryetta;
Norman VanMeter & wife Deloris, Henryetta;
3 sisters, Wilda Gulley & husband George, Henryetta;
Helen Griffith, Henryetta;
Charlotte Greenwood, Moore;
10 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, & 2 Great Great Grandchildren
As well as a host of neices, nephews, friends, and other relatives
Pallbearers will be Chad Foster, Sonny Foster, Kent VanMeter, Brad Foster, Norman VanMeter, and Caleb VanMeter.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm at The Evangelistic Center Church in Henryetta officiated by Rev. Kenneth VanMeter and memorialized by her children and family. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.
