Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home

The death of a loved one is one of the most traumatic and trying times in anyone's life. Families can be overwhelmed by the sense of loss, grief and confusion...not to mention the legal and financial details. Funeral decisions involving important questions of appropriateness, desirability and affordability are even more difficult at the time of death.    Yet, all too often, this is exactly when these important, difficult questions must be made, and by those who are already under a great deal of stress. Although we know that death is inevitable, we don't like to think about it. We especially don't like to plan for it. Thus, the burden is thrust upon surviving family members to make decisions that may be inappropriate or wasteful and may not reflect our own personal desires.    Funeral Pre-Planning Arranging a funeral in advance can be a worthwhile experience in light of the impact a death can have on a family. The subject of funerals is never easy to discuss and simple to delay until tomorrow. However, upon the death of a loved one, the family must attend to the funeral details at a time they are least prepared. Prearranging today is the practical way to complete funeral arrangements so the family will not face difficult decisions under difficult circumstances tomorrow. With a prearrangement a family knows: They will be relieved from the burden of many awkward decisions at a time of stress and sorrow. The funeral will reflect the exact wishes of the deceased. The funeral burden can be eliminated by prepayment and planning. How can we help? Among other ways, we can offer assistance in funeral prearrangement through an unfunded plan, trust plan or insurance funded plan. The Unfunded Plan Through our assistance, the purchaser selects the exact funeral service desired. We then obtain the information needed for the obtiuary, death certificate and other legal requirements to be met when death occurs. We record the desired funeral instructions in written form to aid the family when death occurs. The instructions may be maintained in our prearrangement file to guarantee they will be available to the family when needed.

An Unfunded Plan will not cover the costs of a funeral, however, it will relieve the family of many decisions they will face.

Trust Plan Under a prearranged trust plan, like an unfunded plan, the purchaser selects the exact funeral service desired and then prepays the funeral costs through a payment plan chosen to meet the purchaser's budget. The purchaser may pay for the plan in one lump sum or select a monthly payment plan. Our prearranged Trust Plan sets the purchaser's costs for the funeral services and merchandise selected at the time the plan is established. The funeral home will absorb all price increases on the selected items, leaving the purchaser free from worry of what they may cost in the future.

Insurance Funded Plan Under an Insurance Funded Plan, the purchaser selects the exact funeral service desired and then buys an insurance product projected to cover the cost of the funeral selected. We have licensed insurance agents on our staff and they would be happy to discuss various payment plans that are available.
